Three-week long cook training organised jointly by Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) and Nepal Institute of Food Studies and Operation (NIFSO) concluded on February 16. A total of 41 participants from different trekking agencies had participated in the training. Sudarshan Prasad Sapkota, joint secretary at the Tourism Industry Division of Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, handed over the certificate to the participants amidst a programme organised at the TAAN secretariat. Addressing the gathering, joint secretary Sapkota lauded TAAN and NIFSO for organising such trainings. "Such trainings help improve the quality of service that trekking companies deliver to our guests," Sapkota said, adding, "The Ministry is always ready to support such activities." TAAN president Jyoti Adhikari said the training was organised to build the capacity of trekking staffs. He said TAAN would organise similar trainings in future as well. This is the third training that TAAN and NIFSO have jointly organised. In 2008, they organised two such trainings. Ajit Acharya of NIFSO said they had emphasised on both theoretical and practical aspects for the training. Shuva Bahadur Tamang, a participant of the training, said he learnt to use locally grown products while preparing food for trekking teams. "I am hopeful that such trainings will help us cater to the needs of members of trekking teams in an effective way," he added. |
