Presentation on helicopter rescue in mountaineering organised PDF Print E-mail

Himalayan Rescue Association on February 16 organised a programme on the use of helicopter to conduct rescue operations in mountains. Renny Jackson, co-coordinator of rescue team of Grand Teton National Park of the USA, made a special presentation on the use of helicopter to conduct rescue operations in mountains. "Lives of mountaineers can be rescued by the effective use of choppers. Choppers are very important for mountainous countries like Nepal to assure safety and security of mountaineers," he said. He also shared different incidents where the rescue team had rescued mountaineers from different mountainous areas within the Grand Teton National Park.

On the occasion, Buddha Basnet, medical director of HRA, shared his experiences of carrying out rescue operations in Nepal Himalayas. He also emphasised the need to inform trekkers and the mountaineers about high-altitude sickness.

HRA president Bikram Neupane and founding president Tek Chandra Pokharel also spoke on the occasion.
